The Story of Charlie Oakwood
Charlie Oakwood was born over a bottle of wine, shared between three friends on a weekend away in Paternoster. Hannes Burger, Heine Bellingan, and Heinrich Botha—or as they like to call themselves, HB, HB, and HB—never set out to start a lighting company. But sometimes, the best ideas come naturally.
It all started when HB moved into a new home. Wanting lights that truly complemented the space, he designed and handcrafted each piece with uncompromising attention to detail. The result? Lights so beautiful, so carefully crafted, that they couldn’t just be kept to themselves. But these weren’t just any lights—they were special. And the HBs believed they should only belong in homes where they would be truly cherished.
That’s why Charlie Oakwood doesn’t mass-produce. We release only five lights per range each month, ensuring that each piece remains exclusive—something to be sought after, something that adds warmth and character to the right home.
Proudly South African, we believe in creating opportunities and growing the local economy. Each light is handcrafted by skilled artisans, using only the finest sustainably sourced oak wood. Every detail matters, from the choice of materials to the precision in craftsmanship.
Charlie Oakwood is more than just lighting—it’s a commitment to quality, exclusivity, and timeless design. If you own one, you’ll know: this isn’t just a lamp, it’s a piece of art meant to last a lifetime.
